The novelist Patrick Roth has been a great admirer of Peter Birkhäuser's oeuvre for many years. Peter Birkhäuser's experiences with the realities of the psyche have repeatedly found expression in Patrick Roth's artistic work as well. In July 2021, he curated five paintings for the ZEIT supplement Christ & Welt in the series: A Painting – A Word – A Wonder, among them "At the Door" by Peter Birkhäuser.
